Eternal Life In Jesus

Jesus Christ: The Son Of God
Jesus Christ: Son of God
On of the most fundamental truth's of the Bible is that Jesus is the Son of God, the Scriptures is very clear about this fact. The enemy of this World, the Devil, hates this wonderful truth and if he can get you to believe otherwise, he will, why? Because if one does not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you will perish in your Sins. Jesus said: "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" John 3:34. Jesus also said: "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. " John 3:18. John in the Gospel writes: "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. " John 20:31. Remember, even the Devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness regarding his status as the Son of God: "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, and saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. " Matthew 4:1-7. If we are to stand un-shakeable in our Faith, we need to know the Scriptures. Jesus overcame the Devil by the Word of God " It is written....." said Jesus. So how can we be sure that Jesus is the Son of God, what does the Scriptures have to say on this?

Jesus said that He was the Son of God: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16. "The Father loveth the Son and hath given all things into his hand." John 3:35. "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgement unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father with hath sent him." John 5:22-23. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live." John 5:25. "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up the last day." John 6:40. "Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?" John 9:35
"These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:" John 17:1.

God the Father declares that Jesus is the Son of God: "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightaway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lightening upon him: and lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." Matthew 3:17. "And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them into an high mountain apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him." Matthew 17:1-5.

The Angel from Heaven that appeared to the virgin Mary declared that the child she would bare is the Son of God: "And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.........Then said Mary to the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? and the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." Luke 1:30-35.

The Gospel of Mark, the first verse declares Jesus as the Son of God: "The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;" Mark 1:1.

The Roman Centurion and others present when Jesus died on the cross, declared that Jesus was the Son of God. "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yealded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God." Matthew 27:50-53.

Even those possessed with devils confessed that Jesus is the Son of God: "And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God "Mark 3:11. "And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gardarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit..........And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not." Mark 5:1-7.

The early Christian Church believed that Jesus was the Son of God and there are many references found in the epistles of the New testament: "And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isacc, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go." Acts 3:12-13. "And as they went on their way, they came unto certain water: and the eunuch said, See here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him." Acts 8:36-38. "....Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.....And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God." Acts 9:17-20. "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all,...." Romans 8:32. "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:9. "For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us,..." 2 Corinthians 1:19. "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galations 2:20. "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:" Ephesians 4:11-13. "Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:" Collossians 1:12-13. ".....and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come." 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10. "Seeing then we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession." Hebrews 4:14. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." 1 John 1:7. "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father." 1 John 2:22-23. "He that commiteth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8. "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." 1 John 4:14-15."Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:5. "He that believeth on the Son of God hath witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1 John 5:10-13. "Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." 2 John 1:3.

A number of years ago at work there was a man who was a Muslim; he told me that he had read the whole Bible and that nowhere did it say that Jesus was the Son of God and that if it was in the Bible that Jesus was the Son of God that he would become a Christian. I was stunned by his statement and quoted to him the Scripture, John 3:16. At home I wrote the many scripture references on an A4 sized sheet of paper and put it in an envelope.  I gave him the envelope at work and said that I would not be holding him to his promise to become a Christian. It was obvious to me that he had not read the whole Bible and as far as I know he has never believed on the Son of God that he might be saved.

Let us hold fast to this wonderful truth that Jesus our Saviour is the Son of God and make it a part of our amour in God and should the enemy cast doubt in your mind, do what Jesus did by saying "It is written...." and so overcome the enemy with the Word of God. God Bless you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, the Son of God. Amen.
